STRAP

Strap is a wall-mounted strap and hook system designed to function as a coat rack, using components normally employed to secure loads during transportation.
Made from industrial webbing, hooks, buckles, and triangular rings, the system is mounted vertically and kept under tension. Its slim profile and vivid color allow it to occupy minimal space while providing a functional solution for hanging jackets, bags, and everyday accessories in contemporary domestic environments.
Working daily in a prototyping and woodworking laboratory, I often deal with securing objects and materials. Load straps are a common tool in my everyday work. Being in direct contact with these objects led me to question why ratchet straps, so common in transport and logistics, are almost never present in domestic environments. Ratchet straps already include everything needed for multiple uses: hooks, loops, and tensioning systems.
STRAP originates from this observation. The project brings an industrial object into the home, preserving its original logic and components, and reinterprets it as a vertical wall-mounted system for hanging jackets and bags.
STRAP is designed as a modular system. If a single unit is not sufficient, multiple straps can be mounted side by side on the same wall to increase the number of hanging points. Different lengths can be combined depending on the available space and the amount of clothing or accessories to be stored, allowing the system to adapt easily to different domestic environments.
Tension is generated by pulling the free end of the strap downward. The strap wraps around two tensioning rings, where friction maintains the applied tension and secures the system in position.
Once tensioned, Strap is ready to be used as a support for hanging garments and accessories. The tensioned structure provides stability while allowing elements to be positioned along the strap as needed. The system functions as a flexible and adaptable hanging solution for everyday use.
