TRIS explores how discarded pallet wood can be transformed into a functional piece of furniture. By converting rough pallet boards into square-section strips, the project maximises material efficiency while maintaining a simple and lightweight construction.

Designed for Rilegno Master Wood, TRIS investigates how much usable material can be extracted from a standard Euro pallet. The project is based on transforming rough pallet boards into uniform square section strips, creating a construction system that is efficient, repeatable, and easy to assemble. One Euro pallet can provide enough material for up to three stools.
The stool was developed and built during the first edition of Rilegno Master Wood at Triennale Milano. Working directly with reclaimed pallets, the process involved material selection, milling, preparation of the wooden strips, and final assembly.
The final prototype demonstrates how reclaimed pallet wood can be transformed into a refined and functional object.
Through careful material processing and efficient use of resources, TRIS highlights the potential of waste wood as a valuable design material.
